Extractions are a fairly common procedure. At Port Dental you will be given a local anesethic before removing the tooth. This means you will be ok to drive after the procedure is finished. In some cases we may have to refer you to an oral surgeon based on the tooth's structure.
After Care Instructions
- maintain gentle pressure by biting on gauze
- change gauze every 10 mintues for first half hour after that change as needed
- NO SMOKING, SPITTING OR DRINKING THROUGH A STRAW for 72 hours, this could cause a dry socket
- avoid all excessive activity
- DO NOT RINSE with mouth wash for 24 hours, after that you may rinse with warm salt water to help the healing process
- avoid foods that are hard, crunchy, sharp or containing seeds
- some discomfort is normal, take over the counter pain medication unless prescribed something else
