Soft tissue examinations, which include oral cancer screenings, are a very important part of the dental exam for our patients. At each initial examination and subsequent check-up appointments a thorough examination of the soft tissues of the mouth and surrounding structures is performed. Any abnormalities detected will be thorougly evaluated and a biopsy performed if needed for a definitive diagnosis since many oral conditions can have similar appearances. Early detection and diagnosis of abnormal oral lesions is very important for a healthy outcome. If you notice anything in your mouth that looks or feels unusual and it does not resolve within 2 weeks we strongly recommend consulting with us or your physician promptly.
