Dental Sleep Medicine
In May 2019 Dr. Gall completed 50 hours of continuing education at The Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida. The focus of this comprehensive postgraduate course is treatment of sleep related breathing disorders with oral appliance therapy, primarily for snoring and sleep apnea.
It is estimated that 30 million people in the United States suffer with sleep apnea and go untreated. This can contribute to serious health risks including stroke, heart failure, hypertension, coronary artery disease, and atrial fibrillation among others. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends oral appliances for:
- Patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea
- Severe apnea patients who prefer an appliance to CPAP therapy or who do not respond to, or are not appropriate candidates for CPAP.
As a result of his advanced training in Dental Sleep Medicine, Dr. Gall is qualified to provide care for the treatment of these patients.
